Who is Darlene?
Interstellar deviant. Rogue anthropologist. Professional vagabond. Darlene is a storyteller and cultural relativist who believes life is a mad maelstrom, made beautiful only by what we put into it.
Current I am living in Los Angeles and am working on Chasing Winter, a blog series recounting my backpacking trip across the U.S in the midst of winter’s fury. I earned my B.A. in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of California, San Diego. My special powers include fusing my knowledge of world culture to my creative writing forays in an attempt to inspire others to explore cultural horizons.
I am a vagabond at heart incited by the long-term goal to promote cultural awareness on a global scale, primarily through writing memoirs that strum the lines of realism and fiction. I dabble in the world of film, photography, and multimedia. This includes having interned at the Writers Guild Foundation, a Los Angeles-based non-profit devoted to screenwriters and storytelling and also having worked as an anthropologist on cultural learning software.
On most days, you can find me in any space that serves craft coffee. On more infrequent days, you can find me conducting experiments in the stratosphere.
